Our take

There’s a certain charm to a celebrity fragrance that doesn’t try to be a masterpiece, and SJP NYC understands its place in your handbag. It opens with a bright, jammy strawberry and a spritz of Italian mandarin, the osmanthus adding a faint apricot-leather tang before the florals descend. Honeysuckle and gardenia lead the heart with a creamy, almost milky sweetness, while mimosa dusts everything in soft powder and rose keeps it from tipping into cloying. The base is where the party should linger but doesn’t, because after an hour or two the vanilla and white musk fold into a faintly boozy sandalwood whisper, then retreat. This is the olfactory equivalent of a sequined top worn to brunch, optimistic and bright, but one that gets accidentally left on the coat rack.

The numbers don’t lie, with longevity barely scraping two and a half and sillage hovering near intimate, so you’ll be refreshing this more often than you’d like. It feels synthetic in the best mainstream way, like a perfectly calibrated fruit punch at a summer garden party, sweet but not syrupy, fresh but not aquatic. Spring and summer are its obvious homes, and it lives for daytime, not night. Who should wear it? Anyone who wants a cheerful, easygoing floral-fruity that doesn’t demand attention, a spritz before errands or a lazy lunch. Who should skip? Those hunting for depth or projection, because this scent evaporates like a gossip that’s only interesting while it’s being told.
