Lovely opens on an odd combination: lavender and something called martini sit right next to bergamot and mandarin, giving the top notes a slightly boozy, herbal edge that most citrus openings don't have. It's a strange enough choice that it can read as clever or as a little unfocused, depending on how much you want your top notes to make obvious sense together.
Patchouli, orchid and narcissus settle the heart into something earthier and quieter than the top suggests, and palisander rosewood adds a soft, woody thread that carries straight through to the base. Cedar, musk and white amber close it out gently, warm without being heavy, more a soft hum than a statement. On skin, it keeps a fair but unremarkable hold, and it casts a small, warm zone around the wearer, quiet enough to go unnoticed in a crowd.
Spring carries it best, brightest right after application, when the lavender and citrus play against all that quiet wood. It's an easy, unassuming fragrance, closer to a familiar sweater than a statement piece, understated by design more than by accident.
