Our take

Bijan opens with a furious cloud of ylang-ylang and narcissus, orange blossom and neroli all fighting for space, the basil adding a green, almost savory twist that keeps the whole thing from tipping into cloying. The heart is pure honeyed carnage — tuberose and jasmine pinned down by a thick, waxy orris root, the honey note pushing everything into a sticky, narcotic sweetness that feels both luxurious and slightly unhinged. As it dries, the base settles into a warm, powdery amber-vanilla cocoon with a dusty oakmoss floor and a whisper of sandalwood, but the floral assault never fully retreats.

This fragrance is a velvet necklace soaked in syrup, too heavy for a spring breeze and best worn when the air is cold enough to freeze the excess. The longevity is solid enough, around six hours, though the sillage is more of a persistent whisper than a shout, which may actually save it from overwhelming a room. It feels unabashedly synthetic in its density and thoroughly, defiantly mainstream in the 1980s way — think shoulder pads and gold jewelry, not minimalist chic.

Who should wear it? Someone who wants to smell like an expensive accident, a woman who enjoys the drama of a heavy floral bomb and doesn’t mind that the carnation and honey will cling to her scarf for days. Who should skip it? Anyone who finds tuberose bossy or who prefers their florals fresh and transparent. Best worn on a chilly autumn evening over cashmere, or on a winter night when you want to remind everyone that warmth can be weaponized.
