Our take

Black opens on green tea and bergamot, cool and a touch bitter, before rose slips in almost unnoticed. That freshness doesn't last: sandalwood, cedar and jasmine move the composition into the heart, and by the base, leather, vanilla, amber, musk and oakmoss turn Black into something smoky and faintly animalic, the kind of leather that smells worn, not new off a shelf. A faint bitter thread of green tea runs under the leather all the way down.

The tea and bergamot at the start work like a decoy, a bright opening before the real, darker character shows up. Staying power sits in the middle, holding for a normal stretch before the leather and oakmoss settle into a quieter hum. Diffusion stays contained around the wearer, warm and a little smoky at close range.

Night wear and cold weather are where Black earns its name, since the leather and animalic musk want darkness and low temperatures to feel their best. It works well for anyone who wants vanilla treated as an accent to leather rather than the main event, and it will feel too dark and resinous for someone who wants a bright, clean fragrance.
