Our take

It opens with a slap of rum-soaked pine needles and a medicinal hit of elemi, like stumbling into a taxidermist’s workshop during happy hour. The lavender and sage try to civilize the mess, but the heart snarls with oud and tobacco—raw, ashy, animalic—while immortelle adds a syrupy, hay-like sweetness that curls around the leather like smoke around a saddle. By the dry-down, the amber and musk have warmed everything into a sticky, resinous hide: not a polished leather jacket, but one that’s been slept in by something large and stubborn.

This is a heavyweight, no question. The longevity is solid (nearly four out of five), though the sillage sits closer to intimate than room-filling—like a persistent whisper rather than a roar. It smells more natural than many niche offerings, thanks to the rough-hewn pine and bitter artemisia, but the synthetic edge of the amber keeps it from being truly photorealistic. It suits someone who wants to smell like a bar fight in a pine forest, someone who enjoys complexity over compliments. Skip it if you prefer airy citruses or powder-soft florals; this has the table manners of a rhino in a china shop. Wear it for a late November evening, a whiskey bar, or a long walk home through wet leaves. One spritz, not three.
