Come il Sole
Fragrance notes
Character
Come il Sole opens with a cherry that is not candied but tart and almost boozy, brightened by bergamot’s citrus snap. Within minutes, the florals arrive in a dense, powdery wave: ylang-ylang’s custard richness, carnation’s clove-like spice, jasmine’s indolic warmth, and a lily-of-the-valley that feels more like a ghost than a bloom. The heart is opulent but never shrill, a flush of petals held together by an amber-soaked base. Then the drydown takes over, a thick, resinous embrace where Peru balsam, benzoin, and labdanum melt into tonka’s almond sweetness and vanilla’s comfort, while oud and patchouli add a dark, smoky edge. Styrax and vetiver keep it grounded, woody, slightly leathery. The overall character is that of a candied fruit dropped into a jar of honeyed resins and left to macerate for years: sticky, warm, and faintly animalic.
This is a heavy, thoroughly synthetic-feeling composition in the best niche tradition, bold and unapologetically sweet. It sits close to the skin given its moderate sillage, and the longevity is respectable but not monumental, fading after five or six hours into a soft, balsamic skin scent. It suits someone who enjoys comfort without shyness, a winter evening wrapped in a cashmere blanket. Skip it if you prefer airy florals or crisp citruses, and definitely avoid in summer heat when the cherry and resins can turn cloying. Wear it on cool autumn nights or deep winter afternoons, and let it be your secret pocket of warmth against the gray.
