Our take

Sacred Wood opens with a strange, dusty sweetness, like pressing your nose into a sack of freshly harvested carrots dusted with ambrette’s fuzzy musk and a fleck of pink pepper’s spark. That odd, vegetable-root phase is brief, thank goodness. The heart unfurls into a creamy sandalwood cloud, shot through with the clean warmth of amyris and the ghost of warm milk, while caraway and elemi add a resinous, almost savory lift. As it settles, the base bakes down into a beautiful communion of Mysore sandalwood and Atlas cedar, softened by tolu balsam and a whisper of myrrh and incense. The whole thing feels like a carved wooden altar draped in silk, quiet, devotional, but with a surprising streak of lactonic indulgence.

This is less a statement and more a warm wool sweater you sink into. The projection is modest, a polite arm’s length at best, and longevity hovers around five or six hours on my skin, which feels fair for a scent that doesn’t scream for attention. It earns its votes with a natural, almost powdery texture that never turns cloying. If you love sandalwood in its creamy, spicy, almost gourmand register, this is a perfect companion for crisp fall afternoons or cozy winter evenings. But if you crave projection that announces your arrival, or if synthetic woody aromachemicals make your nose itch, skip it. There is a quiet magic here, best worn for yourself, close to the collar, when the world outside is grey and you need a little golden warmth inside.
