Two notes anchor Chergui throughout, tobacco leaf and honey never handing off to anything else, sitting together like pipe smoke drifting over a jar of dark honey. Hay and incense add a dry, smoky undertone, while iris and a touch of rose bring a powdery, floral lift against all that warmth. Amber and sandalwood build slowly underneath, giving off warmth without much added sweetness, so the composition never turns cloying.
It's long-lasting on skin and keeps its circle small, projecting just enough to notice up close, not much further than that. Fall and winter fit it naturally, when tobacco and honey feel warm instead of cloying against the cold air outside. It leans toward evening wear more than daytime overall, the kind of scent that suits quiet indoor settings more than a bright morning commute.
Christopher Sheldrake built something that wears warm and soft, more golden light than campfire smoke despite the smoky top note. The honey never turns sugary, staying more beeswax than dessert throughout the whole wear, which keeps the composition feeling grown-up, not sweet for its own sake.
The honey and tobacco combination stays the whole identity of the scent from start to finish, warm and a little smoky without turning into leather or oud along the way.
