Character
Labdanum opens this almost immediately as amber, warm and resinous, with a trace of orange brightening it straight out of the bottle. Lavender and Siam benzoin round out the heart, herbal on one side and sweetly balsamic on the other, though amber is really the whole story from start to finish, the other notes there mostly to shade it slightly.
Tonka bean, musk and cedar deepen that amber in the base, settling into a stage where the fragrance refuses to fade quietly, staying warm and present far longer than most lighter fragrances manage, noticed by whoever's sitting beside you and staying put rather than roaming off on its own. Cedar gives the sweetness something dry and structured to hold onto in the base.
Winter is where this belongs entirely, heavy amber and vanilla for the coldest, darkest part of the year, with fall as a reasonable runner-up and spring or summer both feeling like the wrong climate for it. It's a rich, simple fragrance built on one idea done well, best worn after dark when warmth is what the occasion calls for and simplicity reads as a strength, not a shortcut.
