Our take

Rose is everywhere in this fragrance, but it never smells simple: Bulgarian rose and Turkish rose stack on top of each other across the opening and heart, while violet and strawberry add a candied, slightly powdery sweetness around the edges.

Agarwood arrives underneath fairly early, dark and dense, smooth rather than sharp even at full strength.

Vanilla, amber, benzoin and caramel build a thick, amber-heavy base that coats the rose without overpowering it, and cedar gives the whole thing a grounding backbone so it never turns purely sweet. Francis Kurkdjian is credited with the composition, and the balance between floral brightness and dark, sweet oud is clearly the point of the whole exercise.

On skin this is hard to shift once it settles, and the sillage leaves a trail wherever the wearer goes, an announcement more than a whisper. Winter and fall are its strongest seasons by far, and night suits it better than day given how heavy and dark the whole composition leans. The rose keeps its shape even under all that oud and caramel, never fully swallowed by the sweetness around it.
