Our take

Encore by Teo Cabanel opens with a curious wink: carrot seeds, all green and earthy, tangled with a peach that is barely ripe, almost shy in its sweetness. That fruit never quite commits, and before you can pin it down, the iris sweeps in like a powdered silk scarf settling onto bare skin. This is not the cold, lipsticky iris of some niche giants. It is softer, warmer, dusted with vanilla and sandalwood, with ambroxan humming underneath to give it just a little lift. The overall character is that of a vintage photograph found in a secondhand book, faded at the edges and smelling of old paper, clean musk, and a faint whisper of peach compote.

The drydown is where Encore truly shrinks into the background. And it is a shame. With a sillage rating hovering around 2.24 and longevity barely breaking three hours on my skin, this fragrance feels like it is always apologizing for taking up space. It is not heavy or synthetic. It is natural in the way a freshly laundered shirt is natural, but it lacks the nerve to shout. That makes it a perfect companion for a solitary spring afternoon, a quiet coffee in a sunlit corner, or a day when you want to smell lovely only for yourself. Skip it if you crave projection or a full day’s wear. The iris lovers who appreciate a powdery, intimate haze will find a fleeting friend. But fleeting is the word.
