Serin
Fragrance notes
Character
Serin opens with a brisk green lift, where mint and citruses sharpen the earthy warmth of marigold. Rose and champaca add a soft floral glow, though the composition keeps its feet in darker ground. Smoke, cypriol, and guaiac wood bring a dry, charred texture, like a charred ribbon of wood curling beside a bowl of crushed herbs. The effect is aromatic, bitter, and quietly sweet.
As the scent settles, opoponax and sandalwood smooth the rough edges while musk gives the floral notes a clean, skin-friendly finish. Its sweetness feels resinous and ambered, with the balsamic facet becoming more central as the fragrance develops. Serin has a thoughtful, slightly austere character, suited to someone who enjoys unusual woods and herbal accents with a floral thread running through them.
Performance gives the formula a firm presence. Serin is long-lasting, and its sillage is noticeable, creating a clear aura around the wearer without turning the room into its stage. Fall and winter are its natural settings, with spring also offering a good match when the air is cool. A wool coat, dark trousers, and a quiet gallery would suit its smoky woods and dried-flower mood. January Scent Project released Serin in 2019, composed by John Biebel. It brings a distinctive, grounded elegance to a unisex wardrobe.
