Our take

The castoreum and civet here are unapologetic. They arrive early and sit heavy, giving the resinous amber a thick, furry coat that some will find aggressively dirty. This is not a polite introduction. The Taif rose and orris try to lift the heart into something refined, but the animalic base refuses to let the florals breathe freely. It is a scent that demands a certain tolerance for scent materials that smell like a creature rather than a flower. If you prefer your rose clean and your amber dry, this composition will feel like an intrusion.

Composed by Russian Adam, this blend wraps Indian oud and oakmoss around that central beastly core. The smoke and earth cling to the skin with a weight that persists through a long evening out, and the scent pushes outward enough to announce your presence in a crowded room. It feels dense and expensive, a throwback to a style of perfumery that valued raw impact over easy wearability. The powdery musk softens the edges slightly, but the leather accord remains sharp and distinct throughout the wear.

It is a heavy choice for a cold night when you want to feel armored. The limitation is that the synthetic civet and natural musk create a specific funk that never fully integrates for everyone. It is a masterpiece for the right nose, but the opening roughness and the persistent barnyard edge mean it will never be a safe blind buy. You have to be ready for the scent to wear you just as much as you wear it.
