Our take

Cinnamon and cumin lead the opening with a dry, dusty heat that feels immediate and unpolished. Cardamom and cloves add a sharper edge, while nutmeg rounds the spice mix with a soft, almost floury warmth. The entrance is bold and savory rather than sweet, pushing forward with a kitchen-like intensity that demands attention.

Oud enters next, resinous and medicinal, supported by tobacco that smells cured and slightly bitter. Coffee brings a roasted depth that anchors the heart, while carrot seeds and Himalayan nard introduce an earthy, root-like bitterness. The middle stage trades the bright kick of the spices for a darker, heavier composition that feels thick and persistent on the skin.

Opoponax and labdanum create a golden, resinous base that leans sweet without becoming sugary. Muhuhu and costus add a woody, almost sweaty animalic touch, while amber and sandalwood smooth the edges into a creamy, powdery finish. The drydown stays warm and resinous, holding the earlier spices as a faint echo beneath the heavier resins.

The air in a small room feels heavier when the heater runs and the windows stay shut.
