Our take

Zara’s latest vanilla offering arrives with a name that promises a lot, and it does manage to deliver a specific kind of cozy charm, though not without a few caveats. It opens with a bright, almost candied orange blossom that feels synthetic in the way a citrus-scented hand cream might, but the sweetness is tempered by a soft, powdery vanilla that emerges almost immediately. The heart is all vanilla, but it is not the boozy, gourmand vanilla of a Guerlain or a Tom Ford; it is a clean, slightly plastic-sweet vanilla reminiscent of a vanilla-scented eraser, with a whisper of animalic warmth from the amber base that keeps it from being too innocent.

The overall character is like a cashmere scarf that has been lightly dusted with powdered sugar and worn for a week: comfortable, slightly sweet, and undeniably soft, but with a faint, warm edge that suggests it has lived a little. Sillage is disappointingly modest, barely projecting past arm’s length after the first hour, and longevity hovers around three to four hours before fading into a skin-scent. This is a fragrance for the man who wants to smell pleasant and approachable, not commanding or complex. It suits cold weather perfectly, especially winter evenings by the fireplace or a quiet fall day at the office. Skip it if you crave bold projection, deep complexity, or anything that challenges the room. At this price point, it is a serviceable comfort scent, but do not expect it to turn heads. It will simply make you smell like a very nice vanilla bean within a small, warm radius.
