Our take

Chouda presents a heart built around lily-of-the-valley and water hyacinth. Narcissus adds a deep yellow floral tone that sits beside the green freshness of broom. Cinnamon and hay bring a warm, spicy dryness that keeps the flowers from feeling cool or aqueous. The composition stays within its listed accords and does not reach for notes that are not present.

The drydown moves toward a balsamic base that supports the remaining floral and spicy elements. The hay and cinnamon linger while the narcissus loses its initial brightness. Balsamic notes give the later stage a resinous weight that changes the posture of the scent. The green accord that opened the fragrance settles into the background as the warmer materials take over.

Guy Robert composed this 1959 Grès release for women, and the structure reflects a period style that allows each listed material to occupy space without rushing to a conclusion. The herbal facet stays present as the balsamic notes expand, and the lily-of-the-valley continues to appear in small amounts among the heavier heart notes.
