Our take

Bloody Rose opens with a citrus-flecked orange blossom that feels almost candied, sticky and bright, before ylang-ylang drapes a buttery yellow floral veil over the whole affair. The heart quickly turns dusky: patchouli, earthy and dry, wrestles with a ghost of incense that never fully billows into smoke but lingers as a charred undertone. It dries down to a soft, balsamic amber sweetness with the floral notes reduced to a faint whisper against woody patchouli. The overall character is like a pressed rose petal left in an antique book, still holding color but brittle, powdered with dust and faintly sweet. It feels more synthetic than raw natural, leaning into a polished, mainstream-friendly corner of niche, but the incense adds a dab of rebellion.

Performance is moderate: longevity and sillage hover around 3.7, so you get a solid four to five hours of presence before it settles into a skin scent. The weak point is that the rose in the name is misleading, there is no rose note, only white and yellow florals, a chypre structure that wears more patchouli-forward than any bloom. This is best suited for cool spring days and crisp fall evenings, when the warmth of the balsamic drydown can cozy up against a chill. It works equally for daytime errands and dinner outings, thanks to its balanced, non-intrusive sweetness. Skip it if you crave a true rose soliflore or something that projects loudly, because Bloody Rose prefers to nuzzle rather than announce. Who is it for then? Someone who wants a floral that feels like an old photograph, faded but still vivid in memory.
