Our take

Ginger and ginger flower come across wet and green from the first spray, cardamom and pepper add a dry rattle underneath, and a thread of water notes runs through the whole thing like humidity rising off pavement after a downpour. Jean-Claude Ellena composed Un Jardin Apres la Mousson, and the rain-on-hot-ground idea holds up from top to base.

White ginger lily and floral notes soften the spice into something closer to a garden than a spice rack, gentle rather than sharp. Vetiver anchors the drydown, dry and a little bitter, and citrus keeps circling back in short bursts to lift the whole thing. The composition stays transparent throughout, built for suggestion over volume, more a sketch of a scent than a fully filled-in painting, which is exactly the kind of restraint Hermès built its whole Jardin series around.

Wear time settles into an average run, felt clearly for a good while before it quietly steps back, and the trail it leaves is a soft, close halo that stays personal. That makes it best suited to daylight hours, a garden lunch or an outdoor walk, where its freshness gets room to breathe and nothing about it competes with the air around you.
