Our take

Ginger opens Libre Le Parfum with a sharp, almost peppery snap, and lavender arrives right behind it, an unusual pairing for a fragrance sold as a floral. Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim leaned into that friction instead of smoothing it over, and the tension between a spicy top and an herbal, almost masculine lavender note is what makes the opening memorable. Saffron adds a dry, spiced edge right alongside the citrus.

Honey and bourbon vanilla take the composition somewhere much sweeter in the base, thick and slightly boozy, closer to a dessert wine than to a candle. Tonka bean adds a dusty warmth underneath, and vetiver runs a thread of green bitterness through the sweetness, balancing the honey's richness with something drier.

Fall and winter suit Libre Le Parfum best, its warmth landing as comfort in cold air, worn into evening settings where a rich, honeyed base has room to unfold.

Staying power is genuinely strong, digging in early and holding its shape well into the base notes. Projection keeps its ambition in check, filling the small space immediately around the wearer. Between the lavender-ginger opening and the honeyed base, Libre Le Parfum earns its name: confident enough to wear without asking permission.
