Deruni
Fragrance notes
Character
Deruni opens with a sharp pepper note that cuts through the initial sweetness of chocolate and coconut. The coconut provides a creamy texture rather than a bright tropical impression, and the chocolate reads as dry and dark. This opening feels dense and immediate. The heart introduces guaiac wood and patchouli alongside frankincense, shifting the fragrance toward a resinous wood profile. The patchouli adds an earthy depth that grounds the sweeter top notes, while the frankincense contributes a clean, slightly medicinal smoke. The composition stays warm and heavy, moving steadily through these layers without sudden changes.
The base settles into amber, oud, labdanum, and vanilla. The oud here is prominent and leathery, supported by the sticky sweetness of labdanum and a smooth vanilla. The amber ties the resinous elements together, creating a thick, balsamic finish. This is a scent built for heavy sweaters and dim, cold rooms where the air is still. The intensity of the oud and the richness of the vanilla make it a demanding wear. The one limitation is the synthetic edge that occasionally rises through the woods, giving the blend a slightly plastic sharpness that distracts from the natural resin quality.
