This is a fragrance that knows exactly what it wants to be, and I respect that even if I wish it had more stamina. Sal Y Limon opens with a bright, spritely burst of Italian lemon and lime, sharp and clean like the first wedge squeezed over grilled fish. The bergamot adds a polite bitterness that keeps it from veering into candied territory. Then the heart arrives, and here is where the persuasion happens. Cassis brings a tart, almost boozy berry note that softens the citrus, and orange blossom and jasmine thread through like warm air rising off sunbaked stone. The drydown settles into a base of musk and amber with a whisper of patchouli, green and slightly earthy, like the skin after a day at the beach, rinsed clean but still carrying salt and sun.
The overall character is that moment just after you step out of the sea, lemon rind crushed in your fingers, a white flower tucked behind your ear, and the salt drying on your shoulders. It feels natural, effortless, and distinctly niche in its refusal to shout. But there is a problem. With a longevity barely reaching three hours and sillage that barely leaves your collar, this is a fragrance that evaporates before the conversation gets interesting. Skip it if you crave presence or a scent that carries you into evening. Wear it to the market, to a seaside café, anywhere the light is bright and the company is easy.
