Leatherize opens with a surprising snap of white leather, clean and almost clinical, before cade oil and cypriol twist it into something smoky and earthy. The cubeb pepper adds a fleeting spark, but it’s the orris that really anchors the early moments, dusting everything in a pale, powdery haze. As it settles, labdanum and myrrh warm the edges into a soft, balsamic amber that never fully loses that initial restraint. The overall feel is a saddle left to cure in a dark, resin-soaked workshop, the leather buffed smooth but still carrying traces of soil and spice.
This is a niche composition through and through, deliberate and introspective rather than flashy. The sillage is modest, hovering close to skin, and while longevity hits a respectable six to seven hours, it won’t announce you from across the room. That’s not a flaw if you prefer your presence to be discovered rather than declared.
