Our take

Betelgeuse is a tropical orchard built on a wet forest floor. The opening is a rush of pineapple, apple, and black currant, bright and heavy with juice, but the scent refuses to stay in the fruit bowl. Moroccan jasmine and rose add a sheer floral lift, while birch and patchouli drag the composition into the shade. This is not a shimmering, sunlit fruity fragrance. It is damp, dark, and rooted. The base cements that identity with oakmoss and ambergris, leaning earthy and mossy rather than clean or musky. It is a chypre that uses tropical fruit to rot rather than refresh.

Betelgeuse is for the person who wants a fruity scent but refuses to smell like a smoothie. The jasmine and rose keep it elegant, but the birch and oakmoss give it a rugged, almost unwashed texture. It is a statement fruit. That density is also its ceiling. The vanilla and musk are present, but they never soften the edges enough to make it truly cozy. It stays sharp and tangy, even in the dry down. The limitation here is the lack of transition. It opens loud and stays loud in character, never settling into a quiet, skin-like warmth.
