Our take

Sur La Plache opens with a briny slap of sea spray, sharp and clean, before the orange blossom cuts through like a slice of sun-warmed citrus. The jasmine and magnolia arrive together, a lush white floral bouquet that feels more like skin damp from a swim than a formal perfume. That skin accord lingers at the base, salty and faintly sweet, but the whole composition stays whisper-thin. The development is a straight line from splash to dry down with no surprises. This is the scent of a towel left on the sand, rumpled and faintly damp, the salt drying into a ghost of a memory. It is fresh and natural, leaning more niche in its restraint than mainstream in its projection. But the numbers do not lie: longevity barely scratches two hours, and sillage is a polite whisper at best. For a beach fragrance, that is a real letdown. Would it kill them to give it a little more body? This one suits someone who wants a quick spritz before a morning walk along the shore, not a statement piece for an evening out. Skip it if you crave presence or a scent that lasts through lunch. Wear it in high summer, on a hot day when you will reapply freely and the fragrance can melt into the humidity rather than fight it.
