Our take

Tabac Imperial opens with a sticky, golden smear of honey that immediately announces its intentions. This is no shy, ashy tobacco; the bee-licked sweetness clings to raw patchouli and a sharp, medicinal cypriol, like a church incense stick dipped in molasses. The development is surprisingly linear for a scent this dense, but the dry down rewards patience as benzoin and immortelle soften the edges into a warm, almost powdery amber. The woody base keeps it grounded, never tipping into gourmand territory.

Imagine a leather armchair in a paneled library, the ashtray still warm, a forgotten jar of honey and a sprig of dried herbs on the side table. That is the feeling here. It is comfortably synthetic in the best way, a mainstream designer take on a niche theme, but the longevity is merely average at 3.74 and the sillage a whispery 3.06. You will need to reapply or press your nose to your wrist. The sweetness leans heavy, not cloying but certainly not fresh, and the herbal immortelle gives a dusty, hay-like twist that some will find challenging.

Who wears this? A person who wants a hint of smoke and earth without committing to a full ashtray. Skip it if you hate honey, if you prefer clean citrus or aquatic scents, or if you demand projection for hours. Wear it for a crisp autumn evening or a winter dinner by a fireplace. It suits the cool months perfectly, but in spring it feels like wearing a wool coat to a picnic. Would most people notice you? Probably not. But the ones who do will lean in close.
