The opening moves through carrot and wormwood beside yellow mandarin and orange blossom, a bright start that carries an earthy edge. Cardamom adds a crisp lift before the heart turns toward cumin, violet, and Bulgarian rose with myrrh and cinnamon. The spices here are warm and present, and the violet gives a soft, powdery frame that keeps the rose from dominating. It feels composed rather than crowded, each note given space to sit.
That warmth deepens as oud and amber meet frankincense and tonka bean. Civet, castoreum, and patchouli bring an animalic, musky weight that grounds the entire structure, while Virginia cedar and sandalwood steady the base with dry wood. The result is a resinous, aromatic profile that stays close to the skin yet feels substantial. It belongs in a dim room with heavy curtains drawn, where the air is cool and the light is low, and the scent feels like part of the furniture.
Parfums d'Elmar released this in 2018 with Mark Buxton as the perfumer, and the construction shows a clear hand. The amber and powdery accords wrap around the fresh spicy and warm spicy threads without smoothing the edges.
