Our take

Angel Eau Croisière 2020 opens with a burst of fig nectar that’s less green and more honeyed, almost sticky against the skin. The praline slides in immediately, turning the top into a candied fruit basket left in the sun, warm and a little syrupy. Magnolia tries to lift things with a creamy floral shimmer, but the real anchor is that Mugler patchouli, dry and cocoa-dusted, backed by a vanilla that feels more like a whisper than a roar. On drydown, it settles into a woody gourmand that wears like a tan line, noticeable but not shouting.

This is a fragrance that feels like the last slice of a salted caramel tart eaten on a beach towel, sandy fingers and all. It leans sweet and synthetic in the way most Mugler flankers do, mainstream but with enough patchouli bite to keep it from being just another fruity vanilla. The longevity and sillage are moderate at best, which matches the rating, so do not expect it to cling to a coat all day. It performs best in spring and summer, strictly for daytime, and suits someone who wants a cheerful, dessert-like scent without the heavy commitment of the original Angel. Skip if you prefer austere greens or crisp citruses. Wear it to a Sunday brunch or a lazy afternoon by the pool, and enjoy it while it lasts.
