The sun rests on a terrace built into pale stone, heat still rising from the ground. A basket of cut fruit sits near a low wall, raspberries and slices of peach and pear touched with pink pepper and a squeeze of passionfruit. The air feels bright and slightly cool from violet leaves and apple. Over time the fruit gives way to flowers. Taif rose leads, heavy and honeyed, while ylang-ylang and jasmine soften the edges. Lotus and orange blossom keep the heart wet and transparent. Heliotrope and magnolia add a gentle, powdery haze that sits close to skin and fabric.
The base gathers around vanilla and benzoin, tonka bean and sandalwood lending a smooth warmth. White musk and ambergris make the surface feel clean. Frankincense and styrax bring a faint resinous lift, vetiver and patchouli grounding the sweetness so it never turns cloying. Siam and the remaining woods hold the floral center in place. The moment stays contained in this quiet courtyard where cooled stone meets a bowl of late fruit and a single blooming rose bush placed in the shade of an arched doorway.
