Our take

You get about ninety minutes, maybe two hours if you’re lucky, and then it’s gone. That’s the deal with CK One Summer 2010, a fragrance that doesn’t pretend to be anything but a fleeting splash of cold watermelon and Amalfi lemon on the hottest day of July. The opening is a crisp, sugary burst of pear and mandarin, the fruit so bright you can almost hear the rind squeak, but beneath it there’s this synthetic ozonic chill, like opening a freezer door in a room full of cut grass. As it settles, the heart turns soapy and aquatic, water lily and violet leaf softening the citrus into something almost floral, but it’s never really natural. It’s a cheap, cheerful, guilt-free pleasure, a plastic bottle of lemonade that fizzes hard then flattens.

The dry down is the best part: a whisper of clean cedar and an almost-earthy patchouli that feels like the shadow under a beach umbrella. But it’s thin, barely there. This is a scent for a single afternoon, not a whole season. Longevity is a genuine flaw, sillage barely a foot, so you’ll be reapplying like a nervous host topping off drinks. It’s unapologetically mainstream, a synthetic cocktail that smells exactly like 2010 in a bottle, and that’s fine.

Who should wear it? Anyone who wants to smell like a peeled orange on a crowded boardwalk, no strings attached. Skip it if you crave depth, projection, or anything that lasts past lunch. Wear it to the beach, to a pool party, or on a sticky commute where you need a five-minute vacation. It’s a quick spritz of crushed ice and watermelon rind, gone before you even notice.
