Lavender and lemon open the classic way, crisp and a touch bitter, with bergamot and mandarin orange keeping the citrus lively rather than flat. Sage, basil, and juniper berries add an herbal bitterness in the heart, and this is where the fragrance earns its aromatic-fougere reputation, all sharp green herbs and a little bit of coriander spice. Carlos Benaïm composed it in 1990, and three decades later the structure still reads as a fairly plain, work-ready aromatic.
Jasmine, orange blossom, and lily soften things only slightly; this stays a fresh, herbal composition through and through. Sandalwood, musk, and vetiver in the base add just enough woodiness for the drydown to feel finished, and the persistence is steady without being stubborn, present through a normal wear and then gone. Sillage stays a neat, close presence, easy to live with day to day, brazilian rosewood adding a faint, dry sweetness right at the end. Warm, bright mornings suit it best, worn at the office or anywhere a clean, unfussy scent matters more than personality. It is a dependable, unremarkable classic, aromatic freshness without much drama, lavender and citrus doing exactly the job they were designed to do.
