Black tea and fig open Gris Charnel on a note that is more contemplative than sweet, cardamom adding a little heat around the edges. Fig adds a faint green sweetness under the black tea, more skin than fruit, giving the opening a quieter, less obviously gourmand character. Iris steps in early and stays for most of the ride, powdery and cool rather than floral in the usual sense. The sillage holds as a compact bubble, felt nearby without spreading, and staying power is neither short nor long, settling somewhere comfortably in between.
Bourbon vetiver gives the iris a green, earthy grip that carries through to the base. Cardamom from the top keeps resurfacing faintly through the middle stretch, a small spiced reminder that this started somewhere warmer and sharper than where it ends up. Sandalwood and tonka bean round out the finish, warm and slightly sweet, never cloying. This works well in an office setting, and the fall and winter months suit its warmth best. Fig stays present in memory long after the tea and cardamom fade from the top, an odd, likable anchor for a scent built mostly from powder and wood.
