Our take

Eve Truth opens like a fruit salad left out on a spring picnic table, all glossy star fruit, cassis, and pomegranate juice. There is a sharp, almost tart greenness from the black currant that keeps things from tipping into syrup, and for the first ten minutes this smells genuinely crisp and optimistic. Then the pink freesia and peony roll in, soft and shampoo-clean, blending into a gardenia that reads more polite than tropical. The base of cedar, musk, and amber is barely there, a faint powder on the skin that fades fast. And that is the problem. With a longevity barely scraping two hours and a sillage that hugs so close even a hugger would miss it, Eve Truth is a ghost of a fragrance. It is perfectly pleasant, nice and nondescript, like a breezy sundress on a warm day. But for a perfume called “Truth” you expect some backbone. This is a whisper that apologizes before it finishes.

Who should wear it? Someone who wants a safe, inoffensive spring scent for the office or a brunch date, someone who reapplies without resentment. Who should skip it? Anyone who expects a perfume to leave a trail, last through lunch, or make a statement. Laurent Le Guernec delivered a pleasant floral fruity to Avon at a reasonable price, but the performance numbers do not lie. It is a polite little splash of morning, gone by noon.
