Abjar opens with a rush of cypress and pine that feels like walking into a dense forest just after rain. Mint and grapefruit add a cool, bright edge to the sharp bite of clary sage and nutmeg. The aldehydes give the entrance a crisp, slightly metallic shimmer that keeps the greenery from feeling too heavy. Bitter almond and apple sneak in underneath, offering a faint sweetness that grounds the resinous styrax and aromatic lavender.
The heart shifts into a dark, polished study of leather and birch leaf, wrapped in thick smoke from frankincense and myrrh. Indian oud and guaiac wood press the scent into a deep, woody direction, while a drop of honey and rose softens the edges without making it floral. Labdanum and cashmeran add a warm, rubbery resinous feel that clings to the skin with impressive weight. You notice the trail it leaves behind as you move through a quiet, dimly corridor.
Tobacco and oud dominate the base, supported by the earthy depth of castoreum and civet. Amber, benzoin, and tolu balsam create a golden, sticky resin that holds the darker notes in place. Vanilla, tonka bean, and praline try to smooth the edges, but the patchouli and vetiver keep the foundation dry and rooted. The scent feels at home in a heavy wool coat under streetlights reflecting on wet pavement.
