Our take

This is Mugler pulling a quiet revolution, and I’m not sure the faithful are ready for it. A*Men Stellar opens with a surprising pistachio note, nutty and faintly sweet, softened by bergamot’s sharp citrus. Then the lavender and mint step in, turning the heart into an aromatic, almost medicinal coolness that cuts through the gourmand base. That base is where the familiar Mugler DNA glimmers: tonka and coffee with a dusky styrax resin, all wrapped in a clean musk. The overall effect is like a winter comet streaking over a field of frosted lavender, bright and cold, yet trailing warmth.

It feels lighter than its predecessors, more a fresh fougere than a heavy monster. The longevity is respectable at just over three and a half hours, but the sillage is noticeably restrained, barely reaching out. That’s the weakness here: for a Mugler, Stellar whispers when you expect a shout. It suits the man who wants a work-friendly gourmand, something to wear under a peacoat on a brisk fall day or inside a cozy winter office. Who should skip it? Anyone hoping for the nuclear projection of A*Men Pure Havane or the bizarre thrill of Alien Man. This is a cologne for the commute, not the club. Can a Mugler be this polite and still feel like itself? Perhaps, if you imagine a star that chose to glow instead of explode.
