Our take

Because I'm Free opens with a sticky, candied rush of fruit syrup and powdery almond blossom, sharpened just enough by petitgrain’s green bite to keep it from collapsing into pure sugar. The heart blooms into a lush, almost tropical white-floral cluster: tuberose pushes creamy and indolic, banana flower adds a faint waxy funk, and jasmine smooths the edges into a silky, heady brightness. On the drydown, vanilla and caramel melt into a warm amber base, turning the whole thing into a dessert that’s been left too long in a hothouse of flowers.

This is not a subtle fragrance. It’s a candy-bowl left open on a nightstand in a hotel room overlooking a summer garden – the air is thick, sweet, and slightly animalic from the tuberose, a little decadent and a little cloying. The synthetic sweetness is obvious but intentional, landing somewhere between niche ambition and mainstream crowd-pleasing. Given the moderate longevity and soft-to-moderate sillage (both around 3.6 and 3.2 out of 5), you’ll get a solid four to six hours before it fades into a caramel skin scent. It wears best in spring and fall, and leans heavily daytime despite the amber warmth.

Who should wear it? Anyone who wants a loud, joyful gourmand floral without apology. Who should skip it? Lovers of airy, green, or sharp minimalist compositions – this has zero chill. Save it for brunch with friends, a first date where you want to be remembered, or a sunny afternoon when you feel like a walking confection. Just don’t expect it to last through dinner. 🍬🌼
