Odoratika 101 opens with a brisk, tart snap of quince and rhubarb that feels like walking past a market stall just as the crates are being unpacked. Citron and mandarin orange brighten the edges, but the fruit here is never sugary. It reads clean and slightly sharp, more rind than juice, with a green bite that keeps the mood alert. The early minutes are vivid and upright, like a clear morning where the air still carries a chill from the night before.
The heart shifts toward sake and hinoki wood, a pairing that gives the fragrance a calm, indoor feeling. Rhododendron adds a soft floral touch that never dominates, while cypress keeps the line straight and dry. It begins to resemble a quiet room with wooden beams and a chilled cup nearby. The citrus does not vanish so much as step back, letting the woods take the lead without losing their bright companion.
Composed by Valeria Karmanova, this is a woody aromatic that wears its Japanese inspiration openly. Buddha wood and frankincense deepen the base, with amber and labdanum adding a gentle sweetness that stays in the background. The limitation is that the sake accord can read a little synthetic, especially when the air is warm, giving the center a faintly artificial edge that some will notice more than others.
