Our take

Open a can of pineapple rings, drop a toasted coconut macaroon into the syrup, and you have Ananas Noix de Coco by Yves Rocher. This 2012 launch opens with a generous, almost candied pineapple that recalls the juice from a tin, all sticky sunshine and zero bite. The coconut arrives fast, not as sun-dried husk but as a soft, lactonic cream that smooths the edges into something like a piña colada you left on the patio table for an hour, warm and slightly fizzy. There is a faint vanilla whisper on the dry down, but it never thickens into dessert territory, staying more fresh than heavy.

The overall character is a pleasant, cheerful blur, like a beach towel that still smells of last year’s sunscreen. That is both its charm and its limit. The sillage barely reaches your own shoulders, and longevity clocks out before your second iced coffee, making this a scent you almost have to reapply to remember you are wearing it. It feels perfectly synthetic in the best drugstore way, mainstream without pretension. This is for someone who wants a carefree splash of tropical without commitment, a brief vacation on a budget. Skip it if you demand depth or projection, or if you prefer your pineapple green and sour rather than glazed and sweet. Wear it on a humid afternoon when the only thing you owe the world is a clean shirt and a smile, because frankly, what else is a pineapple meant to do but make you feel a little bit lighter?
