Yves Rocher

Explore 263 Yves Rocher fragrances — notes, longevity, sillage and community ratings, matched to how you want to smell. The house dates from 1959, founded by Yves Rocher.

About the house

Yves Rocher was born on 7 April 1930 in La Gacilly, a village in Morbihan, Brittany, and the company that carries his name grew up there. Sources give different years for its founding, and they differ on when the first shop opened. The slogan that summed up the business was "la beauté par les plantes", beauty through plants. Rocher also served as mayor of La Gacilly from 1962 to 2008, and the company has a free public garden at its factory site in the village.

Rocher sold a stake to Sanofi, an Elf Aquitaine subsidiary, and when Sanofi later merged with Synthélabo he bought back enough shares to take control again. He died in Paris on 26 December 2009. His grandson Bris Rocher took over the direction of Groupe Rocher in 2010. In October 2019 the group became an "entreprise à mission" under French law, and its main brands are Yves Rocher, Dr Pierre Ricaud, Sabon and Arbonne. The group reported turnover of 2.75 billion euros for 2019.

On fragrance, the house points to Comme une Évidence. Its own blog says Annick Ménardo created the women's version and that Antoine Maisondieu made the men's scent that followed, and it describes the women's fragrance as based on Damascus rose essential oil.

Signature notes

These notes show up in Yves Rocher fragrances at least twice as often as in the catalogue as a whole. We worked this out from each fragrance's listed notes. It is not how the house describes itself.
