Our take

You twist the cap and a flash of citrus hits first, lemon and orange sharp as a knife through a ripe mango, but within seconds the fruit floods in. Passionfruit, guava, mango. This is Demeter’s version of a postcoital breakfast in a tropical hotel room, where the rum is still in a glass on the nightstand and the sheets are tangled and damp. It opens with a boozy, candied sweetness that feels almost edible, then quickly collapses into a simpler, cleaner fruity musk. There is no grand development. The rum note evaporates fast, leaving a flat sugar-water whisper of tropical fruit salad that clings to skin like a memory you can’t quite retrieve.

The numbers do not lie. Longevity is abysmal, barely two hours before you question whether you wore anything at all. Sillage is shy, a personal halo rather than a statement. That low rating of 3.95 reflects the fragrance’s biggest flaw: it is a fleeting novelty, a spritz of juice that fails to become a scent. For a brand built on literal snapshots, that may be the point, but it also means Between the Sheets works best as a mood booster for a lazy summer morning, worn cheaply and generously, reapplied without guilt. It feels sweet, fresh, and totally synthetic, like a candy wrapper opened in a sunlit kitchen.

Who should reach for it? Anyone who wants a quick serotonin hit without depth, a summer-only spritz that asks nothing in return. Those who demand performance or complexity should skip it, this is a breeze, not a gale. It suits a brunch after a sleepless night, a poolside read, a moment when you want to smell like crushed ice and fruit punch and not think about the hour. Wear it on the hottest day of July, reapply often, and let it remind you that sometimes pleasure does not need to last.
