Our take

Davidoff's Cool Water Wave is a tropical fruit punch tossed into a chlorinated pool, bright and loud for about fifteen minutes before dissolving into a vague, powdery ghost. It opens with a sugary blast of watermelon, guava, passionfruit and mango that's more Jolly Rancher than real fruit, aggressively sweet and synthetic in that distinctly mid-2000s way. The heart tries to civilize the mess with pink pepper's mild tingle and a bouquet of peony and freesia, but the aquatic-ozonic accord never lets the florals breathe, leaving everything feeling like a fruit salad floating in saltwater.

The drydown is where the wave crashes. Musk and iris dust over a whisper of sandalwood and amber, turning what was once a vibrant splash into a soft, powdery memory. With longevity barely scraping 3.14 out of 5 and sillage that evaporates before you leave the house, this is a fragrance that announces itself, then promptly forgets to show up. It's pure mainstream, designed for beachside afternoons or a humid commute, and it succeeds best when you don't expect it to last past lunch.

Who should wear it? Teenagers on spring break, anyone seeking a cheap dopamine hit of summer, or collectors who want a time capsule of 2007's fruit frenzy. Skip it if you want depth, projection, or a scent that stays past your first iced coffee. This wave doesn't crash, it just fizzles.
