Blue Cedrat
Fragrance notes
Character
Blue Cedrat opens with a bright, almost abrasive burst of Italian lemon, all zesty pith and tart juice, before the juniper berries step in with their gin-like prickliness. It is a sharply aromatic start, very much a Comme des Garcons trick of making citrus feel angular rather than sweet. The Virginia cedar arrives quickly, not as a warm wood but as a dry, sawn-plank dustiness that pulls everything toward a woody, powdery center. Angelica adds a faint herbal bitterness, and the rose is barely a whisper, a ghost of floral softness that prevents the composition from becoming entirely austere. The dry down settles into a musky, ambery base, but here the fragrance reveals its weakness. The sillage is modest, closer to a personal aura than a statement, and longevity clocks in around three to four hours before it becomes a skin scent. This is not a powerhouse; it is a carefully edited sketch.
Imagine a clean white shirt left to dry on a cedar fence in a lemon grove at midday, the fabric absorbing sun, wood, and citrus dust. It feels natural but with a synthetic edge, like a minimalist sculpture that refuses to be cozy. It suits a person who finds gourmands cloying and wants a crisp, unisex freshness for warm spring days or humid summer afternoons. Skip it if you crave projection or a complex evolution. Wear it to a gallery opening, a morning coffee in a concrete courtyard, or any moment that asks for quiet precision rather than volume.
