Our take

The linen napkin on the café table catches the late sun while a slice of bergamot brightens the air above the glass of iced tea. Edith arrives in that small pocket of warmth, the citrus clear and thin at first, then quickly joined by saffron that carries a faint metallic edge across the cloth. Rose pushes through the spice, its petals feeling dense and a little bruised, lending a floral weight that settles near the wrist as the conversation at the next table drifts in and out.

Honey begins to coat the rose, sticky and golden, while amber adds a resinous heat that makes the air feel closer. Sandalwood grounds the sweetness with a dry, pale wood that keeps the blend from sliding fully into sugar. The accords pull toward leather and tobacco, hints that smell faintly animalic and lived in, as if the scent has already spent hours in a warm room filled with old books and worn velvet chairs.

The napkin holds the trace of saffron long after the glass is empty, the honey still clinging to the rose while the sandalwood smooths every sharp corner into something rounded and heavy, the amber pulsing with a steady warmth that mirrors the fading light on the tabletop as the street outside grows quieter
