Ego
Fragrance notes
Character
Ego by Valhom is a fragrance for the person who wants to be noticed in a dim room. The opening hits with Madagascar cloves, eucalyptus, black pepper, and nutmeg, a sharp and medicinal spice that clears the air. It is brisk and assertive, a deliberate wall of heat that demands attention before the softer elements have a chance to speak.
The heart introduces tonka bean, Madagascar vanilla, Turkish rose, leather, and French violet. The vanilla and tonka try to soften the edges, while the leather adds a rugged texture. The violet sits quietly beneath the rose, lending a powdery touch that keeps the florals from feeling bright. It is a transition where the initial bite begins to mellow into something heavier.
The drydown is where the argument settles. Tobacco, castoreum, Spanish labdanum, and Haitian vetiver create a dense, animalic foundation. The tobacco and vanilla accords merge into a warm, amber-heavy blanket, while the castoreum provides a deep, musky weight that feels expensive and slightly untamed. This is the scent of a heavy wool coat and a leather chair in a room lit only by a fireplace, a composition that thrives in the cold
and the dark, wrapping the wearer in a cloud of sweet, woody resin that refuses to apologize for its intensity.
