Our take

Freudian Wood opens with a blur of warm milk and cumin, an unsettling yet strangely intimate combination that feels like skin still carrying the scent of last night’s sheets. The ambrette and costus push it further into animalic territory, a soft furriness that never quite breaks into full barnyard. Then the sandalwood and cypress step in to ground the lactonic haze, while mimosa offers a powdery, almost dusty floral lift. The dry down is amber and labdanum, sticky and slightly medicinal, like resin warming on bare skin.

The whole effect is a dimly lit library where someone has just closed a book and left a glass of warm milk half finished on the table. It is a niche composition through and through, deliberate in its disquiet, and largely natural feeling save for a faint synthetic sheen on the cumin. The sillage hovers close, barely a whisper, and longevity stops short of four hours, which is the honest weakness here. You will need to reapply or accept that this scent is for your own enjoyment rather than announcement.

It suits those who find comfort in the weird, the introspective, the slightly unwashed glamour of a person who does not mind smelling a bit like themselves. Skip it if you want a clean sandalwood or a crowd pleasing gourmand. Wear it in the slow hours of spring evenings or early autumn, when the air is cool enough to let these warm, musky notes breathe without shouting.
