Character
Cardamom and sage open Gentleman Society on a sharp, herbal note, closer to crushed tea leaves than a typical spice cabinet. Two kinds of vetiver, Haitian and Madagascar, carry the heart, giving it a dry, rooty depth well before French narcissus adds a slightly green, waxy floral touch. Vanilla and palo santo warm the base considerably, with cedar rounding out the wood so the drydown reads soft and resinous rather than sharp.
This holds up well once it settles, staying put with little need for a second thought. Sillage forms a warm, spiced cloud, surfacing mainly for whoever is sitting or standing right next to you.
Composed by Karine Dubreuil-Sereni and Maïa Lernout, it leans hard into vetiver and cardamom, dry and green at the core even with all that vanilla and palo santo warming the base.
Fall and winter are where this fragrance is clearly built to live, the resinous wood and warm spice reading as heavy-weather comfort, with spring a lighter, still-wearable version. Gentleman Society trades citrus freshness for depth entirely, a slow, herbal warmth that takes its time revealing the vetiver underneath.
