Our take

Jasmine Absolute opens with a thick, honeyed jasmine that feels heavy and slightly indolic. It is not a fresh, dewy petal. The flower arrives warm and loud, filling the air with a rich white floral weight that demands attention from the first spray.

The heart shifts the mood toward wood and spice. Virginia cedar brings a dry, pencil-sharpening sharpness that cuts the floral fat, while cloves add a prickly heat. Ylang-ylang tries to keep things creamy, but the iris pulls everything toward a dusty, cosmetic powder that sits close to the skin.

Mysore sandalwood in the base gives a smooth, creamy wood that feels classic and expensive. The musk is clean and soft, wrapping the sharper cedar and spice in a warm blanket. The overall impression is a vintage-style floral wood that smells more like a traditional perfume counter than a modern niche release.

This is a fragrance for someone who enjoys powdery iris and heavy white flowers. The problem is the clove note. It grows too loud and turns slightly medicinal, rubbing against the delicate jasmine in a way that feels harsh rather than harmonious.
