Our take

A narrow side street after the sun has gone down. The air is cool and the pavement still holds a trace of the day's warmth. Someone leans against a brick wall with a blazer thrown over a sweater, and the scent rising from their collar is sharp and resinous. Lime cuts through the damp evening air with a bright, bitter edge. Galbanum sits beside it, green and slightly sharp, like crushed stems underfoot. There is no slow transition here, just a handful of elements pressed together in the same breath.

Tobacco and leather do the heavy lifting. The tobacco is dry and slightly animalic, without the syrupy weight of a dessert smoke. Leather arrives with a clean, cedar-backed structure that keeps the blend upright. Cinnamon is present, but it does not dominate. It adds a thin ribbon of warmth to the tobacco leaf, enough to keep the air from feeling clinical. The overall impression is woody and smoky, a scent that feels at home in a city setting where the windows are fogged and the streetlights have just flickered on.

This is composed by Yusuke Masuda for Feuas, and it carries a distinct personality. It is sweet in a reserved way, never cloying, always anchored by the cedar and the leather. The lime and galbanum stay close to the skin, while the tobacco expands into the space around the wearer. It suits a person who wants a fragrance with a visible backbone. The final impression is a steady, smoky leather.
