Our take

Layla opens with a bright, prickly pinch of nutmeg and cloves, a kitchen-spice burst that quickly softens into something more pillowy. The heart blooms with ylang-ylang’s custardy yellow floral, underpinned by a leathery, earthy Singapore patchouli and the dry, pencil-shaving warmth of Atlas cedar. This is not a loud fragrance. The base of Madagascar vanilla, musk, and amber dusts everything in a sweet, powdery haze, like the residue left on fingertips after handling old love letters. Its overall character is a cashmere throw in a dimly lit library, intimate and slightly drowsy.

The sweetness is warm and natural, never syrupy, but the composition leans decidedly synthetic in its powdery finish, which some may find too polite. With a longevity just shy of four hours and sillage that stays close to skin, this is a whisper, not a declaration. It suits someone who values comfort over compliments, who wants a scent that wraps around them like a second sweater rather than announcing their arrival. Skip it if you crave projection or complexity; this is a one-note, albeit lovely, hum.

Wear it deep into autumn and winter, especially at night, curled up or out for a quiet dinner. It thrives in the cold, where its spices glow without shouting, and its vanilla finds just enough warmth to breathe.
