Our take

Kumquat and lime open Dama Bianca tart and a little bitter, closer to citrus peel than citrus juice, and that sharpness does not last long before violet and iris take the wheel. Italian iris in particular gives the heart a cool, slightly earthy powderiness, lilac and jasmine adding a soft floral sweetness without pushing it toward anything heavy.

The most unusual thing in the base is malt, a slightly sweet, grainy note that sits alongside vanilla and gives the drydown a warm, toasted quality unlike anything else in the fragrance. White musk and ambrette keep that warmth soft and skin-like, sandalwood and cedar add a light woody structure underneath, and the whole base reads powdery and warm rather than sweet in any obvious way. This drydown is the most distinctive part of Dama Bianca, and it is worth wearing the fragrance through to the end just to get there.

It wears at a fair, middling pace, and its reach stays modest, a soft halo that others notice only once they are close to you. Spring and early autumn suit it best, somewhere the citrus opening and powdery base both make sense. Anyone curious about iris built around malt and vanilla, away from the usual cold, mineral treatment, will find this one worth seeking out.
