More Than Words leans hard into oud from the first spray, dark and slightly medicinal, with fruity and floral notes brought in early to soften the rawer edges of the wood. The composition spends most of its life in the base, and there is a great deal happening there. Woody notes and olibanum build a dense, resinous foundation, while labdanum and ambergris add a sweet, slightly spiced warmth underneath. That combination is dense and layered, resinous in one breath and faintly sweet in the next, and it never resolves into a single simple note the way many oud fragrances eventually do. The fruity and floral notes from the opening never fully disappear either; they resurface faintly whenever the resin thins for a moment.
It's tenacious, refusing to give up its hold even after real effort to wash it away. It has genuine reach, registering with people before you have said a word to them. Winter draws the most out of More Than Words, when the resin and oud feel richest against cold air.
